Two C 1/7 men paid a tribute of thanks to Ron "Shortround" Migut at the Louisville Reunion on July 9th.
Jerry Trivisonno and James "Mac" McGinnis presented Ron with a Cavalry Saber encased in a custom made wood and glass case. Jerry engraved the blade of the sword with the Garry Owen Crest. "Mac" built the case from scratch. The gift was accompanied by an engraved plaque of appreciation, bearing both the 7th Cav Crest and the 1st Cav Patch.
They said it was a labor of love in thanking Ron who has dedicated over 15 years to searching out and finding the men who served with C 1/7 in Vietnam. There are over 600 current names and addresses in the C 1/7 "Back in the Perimeter" Roster. Ron was their Squad Leader up to June 1967.
Ron located Jim about 3 years ago. Jerry last saw Jim in January 1968 when he was Medevac after surviving a grenade booby trap. Since their reuniting, they call each other every week and get together at least twice every year. They took the opportunity to present their gift of thanks to Ron, who they haven't seen since 1967, at the reunion.
